Wick is a village which is situated on the A420 between Bristol and Chippenham. Home to it's very own quarry which used to be blasted for limestone.
The village has a number of different buildings within the village from Manor house, to cottages and farms. The buildings are a mixture of Medieval, 16th-19th Century vernacular buildings.
Back to topI carried out an installation of new outdoor garden lighting system at a residential property in Wick. I personally designed the installation after a spec was provided by the client and it definitely improved both the appearance and practicality of the garden. The project involved installing low-energy LED garden lights to illuminate pathways, planting areas and outdoor seating spaces, creating a safe and attractive environment for use during the evenings.
The work included installing new external wiring using suitable weatherproof cabling and fittings, ensuring all equipment was rated for outdoor use (IP-rated). A dedicated lighting circuit was installed with appropriate protection from the consumer unit, weatherproof switches and junction boxes were fitted where required. All cable routes were carefully planned to minimise visual impact while protecting the installation from damage.
Once the installation was complete, I carried out full electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity and earth fault loop impedance tests, to ensure the system complied with the latest BS7671 wiring regulations. The finished installation provided the customer with a reliable, energy-efficient outdoor lighting system that enhanced the garden's safety, security and overall appearance while remaining durable against the UK's weather conditions.
