Warmley is situated between Bristol and Bath. Warmley has a varied amount of different houses which reflect it's history as a former mining and industrial village that later expanded with suburban development. Warmley has properties of Georgian, Victorian terraced homes, post-war housing 1945, 1970's detached/semi detached houses to new modern developments.
Back to topWe were called out to an old Victorian property where the customer was having ongoing problems with damp and excessive moisture coming through one of the walls.
The damp was also starting to affect the electrical installation, with a number of the existing metal socket boxes badly rusted and no longer in a condition we were happy to leave in place.
We worked alongside a specialist contractor who carried out tanking to the affected walls to help prevent any further moisture coming through. Once this work was underway, we replaced the badly corroded metal socket boxes with plastic boxes and carried out a partial rewire where needed.
Particular attention was given to protecting the existing and new cables from moisture ingress and making sure the electrical installation was suitable for the conditions within the property.
We also replaced the existing consumer unit with a new 18th Edition consumer unit and carried out the necessary remedial work to improve the overall installation.
One of the main problems the customer had been experiencing was regular tripping of the electrics. Once the electrical work was completed and the faults were addressed, the installation was much more reliable and the previous tripping issues were resolved.
It was a good example of why damp and electrical installations need to be dealt with together. By working alongside the damp specialist rather than simply treating the electrical problems in isolation, we were able to property address the cause of the issues and leave the customer with a much safer and more reliable installation.
Back to topWarmley is a well-established suburb which offers a diverse mix of historic cottages, Victorian terraces, 1930's semi-detached homes, post-war housing estates and modern family developments. When working on these properties we often encounter ageing wiring, which often require updating the consumer unit or an full house rewire.
