Walcot is one of Bath's oldest and most characterful neighbourhoods with housing dating back to 18th century. Many Georgian townhouses and terraces, Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.
Back to topWe recently completed a full house rewire in Walcot, Bath, for the owners of a three bedroom detached period property. Rewiring a period home can present it's own challenges, particularly when the property is occupied and the homeowner needs to continue living there throughout the work.
Our priority was to make the electrical rewire as smooth, organised and non-invasive as possible, working closely with the homeowner from start to finish.
As the property was occupied, Careful planning was essential. Rather than removing the entire existing electrical installation at once and leaving the property without power, we worked systematically through the house, replacing the existing electrical installation in stages.
This allowed us to maintain essential electrical supplies wherever possible, throughout the project, meaning the homeowner was never left without electricity for the duration of the rewire.
We discussed the work with the homeowner before each stage, ensuring they understood what we were doing and when different areas of the property would be affected. This helped minimise disruption and allow the rewire to progress efficiently.
The existing electrical installation was removed and replaced progressively with a completely new electrical installation. Working carefully within the existing structure of the period property, we installed new cabling, accessories and electrical equipment to bring the property up to modern standards.
Back to topWalcot, Bath has a mixture of historic Georgian stone buildings, terraces and older converted properties. From experience with working in this area, lots of the properties still have old wiring, so would either need a partial or full rewire, lots also have old consumer units so this would need updating also.
